IAHA
Region 8 Endurance & Competitive Trail Championships
Endurance
riding and competitive trail are timed athletic events for the horse and
rider.
These events are open to all breeds of equine (horses, mules and
ponies).
The goal is to follow a marked trail in the proper direction as
described by the ride management, passing all vet checks and finishing with a
sound horse.
The second goal for endurance is to ride the marked trail as quickly
as the horse allows.
The second goal for competitive trail under MOTDRA rules is to ride the
marked trail in the set target time, to be announced at the ride
meeting.
Competitive
trail is an excellent sport for the horse and rider to learn how to pace.
The judging system is on the horse condition score like the Best
Condition judging for endurance and limited distance.
A complete set of MOTDRA rules will be sent upon request.
No drugs are allowed for either sport.
Any type of tack is permitted and shoes are recommended.
Juniors must wear helmets.
Qualifications & general rules for IAHA Region 8 Championship Endurance
& Competitive Trail rides can be found here.
